Summit Malibu was founded by William Oswald, who has over 40 years of experience in the field of substance use, addiction treatment, and mental health recovery.

Since 1979, William has played an instrumental role in creating various hospital recovery programs.

At the Adult Substance Abuse Program of Southern California (ASAP), he was one of the first recovery professionals to expand the scope of addiction treatment into mainstream medical facilities.

In 1988, William founded Avalon Treatment Centers at Van Nuys Hospital. This was the first center to provide a broad range of social and therapeutic treatments that significantly reduced relapse rates.

In the 1990s, he established Lumax Mental Health, a company specializing in day treatment programs for dual diagnosis patients at area hospitals.

After that, he went on to direct the business development for New Seasons Behavior Health Center, which was one of the first centers to utilize neurocognitive treatment therapy for addiction.

William was also instrumental in creating Cocaine Anonymous, a 12-Step fellowship that is still growing today and has helped thousands of people overcome cocaine addiction.

In 2007, he founded Summit Malibu rehab center, the longest running boutique treatment center in Malibu, California.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Summit Malibu, where he oversees the daily operation of our luxury dual diagnosis treatment center in Malibu, California.

Since its inception, his intention for Summit Malibu has always been to provide a safe and nurturing environment to find hope and healing.

As a hands-on owner in recovery himself, William has handcrafted the Summit Malibu treatment program through drawing upon his extensive experience with proven methods for long-term success.

Given his experience being on the other side of the process, William hopes to serve as a guiding light for individuals who may be feeling lost as he once was.
